The United Church of Hinesburg, with roots in the American Baptist, United Church of Christ and United Methodist churches, welcomes visitors and participants from all faith backgrounds into our community. You do not need to be an official member of the congregation to attend services or volunteer with our social service programs.

September 2017 Events
September is National Hunger Action month – a time to take action in the fight against hunger. Bring nonperishable food items to church or drop food off in the Parish Hall during the week. Boxes will be placed at the back of the sanctuary and in the Parish Hall. We are looking especially for healthy and nutritious snacks that kids can take to school (no nuts, no peanut butter, please). Monday, September 4th ~ The church office will be closed in observance of Labor Day.
Tuesday, September 5th ~ 5pm – 9pm ~ This month’s community supper at the Hinesburgh Public House supports the Summer Youth Trip program at the United Church of Hinesburg. 15% of HPH’s evening sales will be donated to this growing program of the church. Make reservations by calling 802-482-5500.
Wednesday, September 6th & Wednesday, September 20th ~ 12:30pm - 2pm ~ Our knitting/crocheting group will meet in the Parish Hall to work on our projects together and enjoy some fellowship time. Bring your project, new or old, or simply bring yourself. All are welcome - including beginners!
Sunday, September 10th ~ Join us for Homecoming Sunday as we kick off our program year. Choir rehearsal begins at 9:00am in the sanctuary. Breakfast and Sunday School Registration begin at 9:00am in the Parish Hall. All are welcome. Thursday, September 14th ~ 12:30pm - 6pm ~ The Red Cross will be hosting a blood drive in the United Church Parish Hall. You can make an appointment to donate at http://www.redcrossblood.org/donating-blood. Drop-ins are also welcome. If you are interested in donating snacks or volunteering to distribute snacks during the drive, please contact the church office.
Sunday, September 17th ~ 12pm - 2pm ~ Wiffle ball game vs. Charlotte UCC at the Charlotte Berry Farm. Fun for the whole family!
Tuesday, September 19th ~ 7:30am - 5:30pm ~ The Parish Hall will become a shared work space for HinesburgHUB - a group of local work-at-home professionals, independent contractors and frequent travelers looking to share ideas and achieve their business and personal goals. Saturday, September 23rd ~ 10am ~ No Strings Marionette Company will present "Nick of Time" as part of the Hinesburg Fall Festival. Admission is free.
Saturday, September 23rd ~ 6pm - 7:30pm ~ The Hinesburg Fall Festival's Stone Soup Supper will be held in the Parish Hall. Hosted by the Hinesburg Land Trust. All proceeds benefit the Hinesburg Food Shelf. Contact the Hinesburg Recreation Department for tickets at 802-482-2281 x230 or email@example.com - $10 for adults, $5 for children aged 5-12, children under 5 eat free.
Sunday, September 24th ~ 11:15am ~ Sunday School leader training. We will review the Caring Community Policy & Procedures and introduce the curriculum we will be using this program year.
Sunday, September 24th ~ 11:15am ~ Practicing God-Talk will meet during coffee hour on Sunday, September 24th, to discuss “Who Needs Charters When You Have Public Schools Like These?” by David L. Kirp, a professor at the University of California, Berkeley, and a senior fellow at the Learning Policy Institute in The Sunday Review of the New York Times (4/1/17). Friday, September 29th ~ 5:30pm - 7pm ~ Don't miss our monthly Open Table Diner free community meal hosted by the Missions & Social Justice Committee. The menu features casseroles, green salad, and apple crisp. All proceeds will benefit ongoing mission work at the United Church of Hinesburg.
