Missions

Join UCH as we embark on new opportunities to alleviate hunger both here in Vermont and reaching our worldwide neighbors!

Open Table Diner    Last Friday of every month  5:30-7:00pm
Come visit with your friends and neighbors over delicious food.  Dinners are served in Osborne Parish House and all donations support hunger relief missions such as the Hinesburg Food Shelf.  Our next dinner will be held on Friday, September 29th, 2017.  All donations this month will support the Vermont Foodbank Backpack Program.

Annual Hearts for Hunger 5K & 1K Fun Run/Walk
Our Hearts for Hunger 5K/1K Fun Run & Walk has raised over $22,000 for the Vermont Foodbank Backpack Program in the last four years.  Join us for our 5th annual race on May 20, 2017 as we continue to fight childhood hunger in Vermont.  Runners start at 9:00am, walkers at 8:45am and 1K runners at 8:40am. Register at: https://heartsforhunger5k.webconnex.com/5thannual2017. Adults $14, Students $12, Children $10 ($2 more if registering the day of the race).

Blanket Mission
The Community Health Centers of Burlington operates our region's only Healthcare for the Homeless program.  Their Safe Harbor program, located on South Winooski Avenue in Burlington, provides walk-in services for homeless adults and families.  Last year they served 1,640 homeless people, the largest number of patients in the last decade.  These are often people who may not be ready for shelters or other resources.  Part of Safe Harbor's mission is to conduct outreach to encampments or other locations where people live on the streets throughout the year.

In the Fall of 2016, our congregation donated 46 sleeping bags to the Safe Harbor program to be distributed to homeless individuals in our community.

Fair Trade/Equal Exchange
The Missions committee is excited to introduce the idea of fair trade marketing to our congregation as part of our mission to address worldwide hunger.  What is fair trading?  Simply put, “Products are exported internationally from developing countries to developed countries and are produced under fair conditions.  Every step!"  For more information: http://www.equalexchange.coop/
