Brown Bobbies
Always a popular bazaar feature, Brown Bobbies were sometimes called the "greaseless donut." They are made in a waffle-like machine, triangular with a hole in the center. The cake-like batter is infused with buttermilk. Brown Bobbies are frosted in chocolate or vanilla and served either plain or with coconut or chopped walnuts. These machines used to make brown bobbies were made for only about 5 years in the early 1990's. Anne Donegan's machine, which is used to make our brown bobbies, was passed down through the family from her great grandmother, Eva Edie, (not to be confused with the Eddy’s on the other side of her family). .
